Croton Caring Committee

The mission of the Croton Caring Committee is to enlist the resources of the community to help those among us who are frail, elderly, homebound, handicapped, or families in need of temporary assistance. The organization helps those residents maintain their independence and dignity, protect their privacy, support their efforts to participate in community affairs, advise them of available services, and assure them that they are loved, respected and not alone. For more information see their website.

Croton Lions Club

For over 50 years, Croton Lions Club members have given of themselves to serve the needs of others. The Lions Club loans wheelchairs, crutches and other hospital equipment to help the sick and injured. They provide scholarships to high school seniors and send blind adults and children to the Vacation Camp for the Blind. Croton-Cortlandt  Food Pantry

Founded in 1983, the Croton-Cortlandt Food Pantry is a volunteer-operated pantry serving the communities of Croton, Cortlandt, Peekskill, Montrose, Buchanan and Verplanck. The organization is supported by more than thirty organizations in our community, who provide invaluable donations of time, money and food. For more information see their website.

Croton Fire Department

Croton's Fire Department is an entirely volunteer organization that provides fire and rescue services to the Village, as well as the Mount Airy and Quaker Bridge Fire Protection Districts in the Town of Cortlandt. Nearly 200 people, all of whom volunteer their time, respond to over 400 calls for help per year. Chemical Engine Company No. 1, Columbian Hook and Ladder Company No. 1, Washington Engine Company No. 2, Harmon Engine Company No. 3 and Croton Fire Patrol No. 1 are the five companies that make up the department. The Explorer Post, made up of young adults ages 14-17, provides support services such as gathering and maintaining equipment at fire scenes.

No prior firefighting experience is necessary to join the Department, and training and equipment are provided at no cost. For more information see their website.

Croton Emergency Medical Service

Croton’s Emergency Medical Service is a volunteer organization, assisted by a paid staff, that provides ambulance service to the Village of Croton-on-Hudson and the Mt. Airy and Quaker Bridge Fire Protection Districts in the Town of Cortlandt. Croton EMS responds to over 700 calls per year. In 2008 Croton EMS separated from the Croton Fire Department. One advantage of separating the organizations is that the Village of Croton-on-Hudson can now bill for medical services. This helps provide revenue for the village and helps cover the cost of paramedic service. Croton EMS is always looking for volunteers. For more information see here.
